<stepDesc>Sanborn provided 2008 LIDAR data to Oakland County along with corresponding DTM deliverables such as soft breaklines, masspoints, road breaklines and waterway breaklines. Oakland County GIS Data Services staff generated a terrain dataset from these DTM deliverables within ArcGIS SDE 10, and then subsequently created a raster digital elevation model (DEM) from the terrain using Spatial Analyst within ArcGIS Desktop 10. The DEM was smoothed using Neighborhood/Focal Statistics (Nearest Neighbor method) with a Mean statistic type, Rectangle neighborhood, 2-cell size height and width kernal, and 9.84 output cell size using ArcGIS 10 Desktop. The resulting County-wide contour dataset was then exported to Shapefile format to be loaded into ArcGIS 9.3 SDE, and then it was generalized within ArcGIS 9.3 Desktop using the Simplify Line tool using a Point Remove method and a 3-inch tolerance. The final resulting County-wide contour dataset was then loaded into ArcGIS SDE 10.</stepDesc>
