A spatial representation of natural areas. The polygons contained in this feature class were derived from information provided by the Michigan Natural Features Inventory (MNFI). In 1986, using all available natural surveys and plant collections, aerial imagery dating back to 1937 and as current as 1986, and extensive field inventory, MNFI mapped the significant natural areas in hardcopy form. This information was provided to Oakland County's Planning Division and converted digitally using a digitizing tablet. Key attributes include the classification (in 1988) of property in which the native landscape resides (Owner1988), the suggested conservation action according to MNFI (SugConAct), and the geographic extent to which this resource is ecologically unique and significant, according to MNFI (Significance). |
